Bangladesh Youth COP 2022

The Bangladesh Youth COP 2022 was a significant event aimed at fostering climate negotiation and youth voice at the global level. Organized by the Brighters Society of Bangladesh with the support of ActionAid Bangladesh, the conference took place on September 17 and 18, 2022. It was a two-day virtual event where youth from Bangladesh and other parts of the world demanded immediate actions to address global climate change. They called for keeping the increase of average global temperature within 1.5° C, stopping fossil burning and using renewable energy, and providing compensation for countries affected by climate change. The event also highlighted the need for special allocations of support for women affected by climate change and the importance of adequate funding and technical support for adaptation. The conference was attended by international leaders and included special guests such as Greta Thunberg and UN Resident Coordinator Gwyn Lewis, who emphasized the need for action and integration of young people’s perspectives into climate plans.
