Bangladesh Youth COP 2023

The Bangladesh Youth COP 2023 was a significant event aimed at empowering youth to address the climate crisis and advocate for climate justice on national and global platforms. Organized by ActionAid Bangladesh and Brighters Youth Society, the event took place from September 6 to 8, 2023, in Dhaka. It featured workshops, discussions, and consultations on various climate-related issues, including safe drinking water, coastal and wetlands crises, drought and flood challenges, and urban resilience. The event also focused on the Green Manifesto, which outlines youth demands to combat climate change and ensure climate justice. The commitment to advocate for the Green Manifesto was a key outcome of the COP, with the aim of influencing political party manifestos in upcoming elections and ensuring a sustainable, green, and climate-friendly future.

Green Manifesto

ActionAid Bangladesh and Brighters jointly organized the “Bangladesh Youth COP 2023” on 6–8 September 2023. Young people from Bangladesh and the Global South raised demands for a just transition through a Green Manifesto. Ahead of the 12th National Election, the conference called for renewable energy to be prioritized in the political agenda. Prior to the event, three regional consultations were held in Sunamganj, Cox’s Bazar, and Satkhira.
